Building homes for over 75 years

Our story is one of rich history and diversity.

The Parkside story started in farming and agriculture in Ayr, North Queensland in 1911 when Bruno Tapiolas immigrated to Australia.

Bruno wanting to build a home for his family found the right
timber in the Atherton Tablelands, upon returning to Ayr found that this timber was in demand and soon started selling this timber and returning many times to the Atherton Tablelands to get more. From this Bruno started a business selling timber  and building materials. It was a natural progression to then create a building and construction company and expand into nearby Townsville region.

From humble beginnings in 1947 to today, Tropical Homes has become one of Queensland’s largest project home building and construction company.

Many of Townsville’s suburbs like, Cranbrook, Deeragun, Kirwan, Condon and Rasmussen have been built by Tropical Homes. Today Parkside Group is still family owned and run with the 4th generation actively involved in the business.

Tropical Homes is part of Parkside Constructions, the building and construction arm of Parkside Group.
